While transient signaling can support tissue repair, persistent activity drives chronic low-grade inflammation and contributes to age-related diseases. These factors can spread damage to nearby cells and disrupt immune balance, creating a self-reinforcing cycle. We integrate these features into a three‑dimensional framework of duality, vicious cycle, and tissue specificity to guide context‑matched therapy. This review discusses how senescent cells influence tissue function during aging, the mechanisms underlying their harmful effects, and emerging strategies to limit these effects.","controlled_terms":["Animals","Humans","Inflammation","Signal Transduction","Aging","Cellular Senescence","Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype"],"relevance_confidence":100,"source_quality_score":90,"freshness_score":100,"publication_state":"published","match_explanation":"Abstract contains controlled term: senescent cell.","quality_checked_at":"2026-09-16T06:17:05.067314+00:00","duplicate_cluster_key":"id:10 1038 s42003-026-10826-4","duplicate_of_id":null,"research_item_topics":[{"topic_slug":"senolytics","is_published":true,"match_reasons":["Abstract contains controlled term: senescent cell.","Source terminology contains: cellular senescence.","Title supplies longevity context: aging, age-related."],"matched_fields":["abstract","controlled terminology","title context"],"relevance_score":100,"intelligence_topics":{"name":"Senolytics","slug":"senolytics"}}],"content_sources":{"name":"Europe PMC","homepage_url":"https://europepmc.org/"}},"canonical_url":"https://www.immortal.life/research/20","automation_disclosure":"Generated automatically from cited source metadata.
